Meet ThreadMarketing

Five years ago, despite having everything to lose, Will and I took a crazy leap of faith and decided to leave our jobs and build a different kind of agency — one without the red tape and multiple levels of confusion and complexity. One that sought to understand our clients and their businesses and their goals on a highly personal level.

Along the way, we picked up great clients, great talent, and more importantly, we learned a thing or two about the future of marketing.

One question remained? How do we create something bigger. We’ve never for a minute doubted that we could compete with anyone in terms of ideas, creativity and marketing knowledge. But we new something was holding us back — and that something was us. While many clients appreciated the boutique approach we pride ourselves on, we too often heard we were simply too small.

It was around this time that we met Michael Della Penna. Michael was formerly the Chief Marketing Officer of Bigfoot and Epsilon, and has had a long and respected career as a marketer. Michael had started his own agency, Conversa Marketing, where he was providing strategic and social marketing services and needed a partner for creative and development services. It was a win-win situation for both of our small agencies, as we were able to offer clients a broader range of services. But even with our combined strengths, we seemed to be hitting a wall when it came to growth. We came to the realization that what we needed was the support of a larger entity— one with the experience and resources to help us grow our client base and business without getting mired in the big-company politics that drove us to start Magnetik in the first place. But if we were to become part of something larger, we needed to maintain the freedom and passion that has allowed us to succeed.

And that’s when we got a call from Sam Cece, the Chief Executive Officer of StrongMail Systems Inc. in Silicon Valley.  As many of you know, we take great pride in being on the forefront of new technologies, and StrongMail is without a doubt one of the smartest, most advanced email companies out there. It turns out they were looking to build an agency unlike any other in the industry — one that combines strategic services, creative services, development and social media strategy and management.

Fast forward to today and I am pleased to announce that Conversa and Magnetik are now part of the StrongMail family. Together we will form the core of a new agency within StrongMail called ThreadMarketing. Michael Della Penna will serve as the Director of the new agency, with Will and I serving as Creative Directors. Along with the knowledge and guidance of Sam Cece and the entire StrongMail team, we finally will be able to realize our vision of what an agency can be.

We want to personally promise our clients that we will continue to provide personal, hands-on management of our day to day creative work. If anything, we can now refocus on our work and spend less time worrying about ordering office supplies and paying bills. Will and I, as well as the whole Magnetik crew, will continue doing what we’ve been doing, which is providing clients with innovative  creative solutions that get real results. Only now, we can offer them an even more complete suite of services.

You can learn more and read the complete press release at our new site, threadmarketing.com. We want to thank all of you for sticking with us throughout the years. It’s been a great ride, but the ride is really just getting started. We couldn’t be more excited to have you continue to be a part of it.
